Clinical Studies on Hyperprolactinemia




Abstract
At the Seoul Paik Hospital of Inje University during the four year period 1987 through 1990, we studied 36 hyperprolactinemic patients to evaluate the clinical characteristics and observed the resolution of galactorrhea, amenorrhea
and
pregnancy outcome after bromocriptine treatment.
@ES The results of this study were as follows:
@EN 1. The most common age group of hyperprolactinemic patients was 26~30 years(47.2%) and the average age was 27.2 years.
2. Infertility(66%) was the most common chief complaint followed by galactorrhea(33%), amenorrhea(30.5%).
3. The mean levels of serum prolactin in patients group with galactorrhea was significantly higher than that without galactorrhea(P<0.01) and also higher in patients group in menstrual abnormality and
galactorrhea
than that with only galactorrhea(P<0.01).
4. The mean levels of serum prolacti in amenorrheic patients were significantly higher than those of regular menstruation group but there was no difference between oligomenorrheic group and regular menstruation groups.
5. By bromocriptine treatment, the average time to the restoration of menstruation was 7.7?2.9 weeks of coplete cessation of galactorrhea occurred in average time of 8.4?3.3 weeks. Average time to the conception was 22.9?6.2
weeks.
